Description

One cold autumn afternoon in 2005, Billeth and D Zombie met after enrolling at college. Being bound together by a mutual love of all things horror, they soon began writing together on what was to become Dead Pleasures’ first material. The two wrote songs together with the fast edge of punk, the crooning vocals of rock n’ roll and the twisted lyrics straight from a b-movie that could only be described as horror-punk. A few rehearsal line-ups later, they were joined by Daisy on drums in early 2006 to drop down their first demo: the HAC Sessions; affectionately named after the place it was recorded (the Hayward Arts Centre). It was also around this time that the band started playing shows in and around Telford, supporting local punk outfits such as: Hatework Conspiracy, Captured, Specimen A and D’Corner Bois (among others). By the summer 2006, the Evil Dead EP saw its release in time for Dead Pleasures’ first series of headlining shows. Made and distributed by the band, the CD was pressed to a limited number of 100 copies and it was not long before copies ran dry. Over the next year, shows around Telford, Shrewsbury, Birmingham and Wolverhampton were common for the group; playing with many punk, metal and rock bands to packed venues (including a sold out show at the Little Civic) as well as main support for horror-punk legends, Blitzkid on their debut UK show. After brief break throughout the summer 2007, the trio re-grouped for a Halloween show, headlining at the Actress & Bishop in Birmingham with good friends and fellow horror-punks, the Casket Creeps. With 18 tracks to hit the studio with, the band recorded what was to become their debut full-length in early 2008 after receiving interest from American horror-punk label, Robot Monster Inc. Also, during this time, Dead Pleasures played at different venues across the UK to promote the upcoming CD, including shows with Zombina & The Skeletones, Devilish Presley and American Misfits’ tribute act: the Bitchfits (among others). With A Chorus Of Corpses coming out this Halloween through Robot Monster Inc, nothing can seemingly go wrong for Telford’s premiere horror-punks! Whether it’s 8 people or 8,000 people, you’re guaranteed a show of blood curdled croons and sing-a-long tunes!
