Kind of a beefed-up Misfits with fast, hard drumming and guitars, but with that Danzig-like drawling vox, campy horror punk imagery, and wonderful whoa-oh-oh’s.
From a horror punk perspective, the thrash zaps a lot of catchiness potential, but Dirty Dead manage to maintain a melodic base.
A thrashy version of the Misfits could’ve been messy and aimless, but Dirty Dead make it work very well. I’d rather listen to the Misfits, but I’d rather listen to Dirty Dead than most other thrash and speed metal bands.
